Dr. Jorge Perez-Gallego

President

Dr. Jorge Perez-Gallego is a multifaceted astronomer, designer, museum professional, and educator with a Ph.D. in astronomy and an M.F.A. in design. His interdisciplinary background has allowed him to succeed both in industry and academia. He has successfully worked on an eclectic set of projects for cultural institutions, including project management, fundraising, creative direction, curatorial and strategic planning; conducted original research on both astronomy (e.g., formation and evolution of galaxies) and science education (e.g., leveraging video games as an informal science education platform); and taught graduate and undergraduate courses and seminars at institutions such as the University of Florida, the University of Miami, and the University of Colorado Boulder—on subjects as diverse as astrophysics, design, science fiction, museum studies, and communication. Whether a course to be taught in a classroom, a large exhibition for a museum, a planetarium show, or a podcast to enjoy during your commutes, he considers himself a storyteller of science and is passionate about the intersectional stories science, natural history, technology, art, and culture play in building better futures. He has been a supporter of SciAll ever since it was but an idea in the mind of its founder, Dr. Mike Gil.
