What IT's like

to go to a TED conference

TED conference – aka the idea olympics

The TED conference I just went to changed my life. What do you get when you take heads of state, leading tech entrepreneurs, cutting-edge scientists, visionary artists, and tireless social activists, and you put them all together for a 4-day conference? The answer is a TED conference.

I attended TED Global. This is an event where ideas are KING — I even started calling the TED conference the ‘Idea Olympics’ because of the incredible diversity of difference makers this conference draws, from all corners of the globe. Here, your background, religion, race, ethnicity, or education level do NOT matter — what matters is your IDEAS.

What is TED?

TED is a nonprofit who’s sole idea is to spread ideas worth spreading. Ideas that are cutting edge and change the way we think about the world around us. In many cases, these ideas presented at TED conferences or talks can have real life applications that change lives and the world around us.

Go to Ted.com to check out TONS of awesome free TED talks, and to learn more about the TED Fellows program (to which I was recently inducted) check out https://www.ted.com/participate/ted-fellows-program.

INTERACTING WITH OTHER TED CONFERENCE PRESENTERS

For example… You could be in the middle of a conversation with a fellow TED presenter that is a leading technologist using artificial intelligence in unique ways to diagnose ailments, potentially saving human lives.

Then… you turn 20 degrees to your left and start speaking to and speak to an artist who is using their medium in a very unique way to spread awareness about social injustice.

To say that this was a surreal environment would be an understatement. I’m humbled to have been a part of it.
