People interested in becoming marine biologists often ask me what classes they need to take to pursue this career. But the path to marine biology as a profession is far from ‘one size fits all’.
In addition to the classes I mention in the video, I would also suggest taking some general marine science classes, like oceanography, to get a better sense for the unique properties of the marine environment. Don’t forget — you can become a marine biologist whether or not you take the classes I mention. The key to becoming a successful scientist in any field is staying true to your own interests, as they develop.
