Being a scientist =
Trying new things
Amelia Munson, Ph.D. Candidate, UC Davis is setting up a new experiment. Join her as she learns a new skill, live. She learned how to do this about 10 minutes ago, and will be learning as she goes–“Sometimes in Science, you have to just do it!”
How did it go? Well, the first attempt didn’t quite work out. After seeking advice, a little adjustment, and a second attempt, SHE DID IT!.
She feels powerful and successful. It can be hard to ask for help when you don’t know how to do it, but it’s always scary to start out and while you do it. These are good things to go through and then one day you’ll look back and wonder how you never knew how to do that.
Amelia says that’s actually one of her favorite things of being a scientist: challenging herself, learning, and growing.
